Arro Home has nailed it with these gorgeous rugs designed by Aussie weaving expert Maryanne Moodie, now living in New York City and owning the loom over there too. These pieces are gorgeous - I want both the Adamas and Desert Storm rugs - and look fantastic with Arro home's signature cat and eye cushions and range of bedding.

Australia Day 2014 - inspired by Cockatoos

Happy Australia Day weekend! I like to think that every day is Australia Day here on Bondville - uncovering and sharing Australian designers and real Australian parties and kids' rooms. So what to share on a whole weekend dedicated to Australiana? This year it's an Australian icon that's close to my heart (however much it hurts my ears at some ridiculous hour of the morning). I've loved the MOZI cockatoo lamp for years - the kitschy-cool looks will never go out of style. Bonnie and Neil have been championing Australian birds on their homewares for a number of years - add instant personality with their cocky cushion. My favourite might just be the geo-crested cockatoo art print from Brisbane's The Printpress Studio - graphic and fun; my kids would love it.

You know, some designers just always seem to have their finger on the pulse (and that means designing and getting product to market ahead of the curve - no easy feat). One of those designers is also one of my favourite Aussie textile creators Shannon Lamden of Aunty Cookie fame.

I've written about Aunty Cookie before, but thought I would have a sneak-peek at her latest designs and just had to share these three gorgeous cushions with you. Let me present, for you to drool over: Ampersand, Home, Sweet Home, and Addition. Do you love?

This is my friend Kylie's (paper boat press) dreamy bedroom in her new home + ceramics studio + store + gallery (opening 27th October!) in Ashgrove, Brisbane. It just looks like such a relaxing, cosy space with all those gorgeous pillows. The Life Is Beautiful cloud pillow by Me & Amber had me at Hello and had to find out more...

Me & Amber is the brainchild of childhood friends and graphic designers Karen and Amber. Based in Sydney, Karen and Amber design a range of products including tea towels, cushions, table runners, greeting cards and artworks, all produced in Australia.

Kate Lauren Designs timeless bedding and decor for babies, kids and teens

If you love an elegant, timeless look, and you're tired of the department store and chain store bedding and decor for kids, you just might fall in love with the co-ordinating collections of Kate Lauren Designs.

Based in Brisbane, mother-of-three Julie Parianos has designed a truly beautiful collection of co-ordinating bedding and room decor for babies, children and teenagers.

Each collection is named after one of Julie's children or their friends and includes cot, single and king-size single bedding, blankets, cushions, and lampshades. There is also wall decor, bunting, furniture (gorgeous Moroccan pouffes) and a range of fabric lanterns to mix-and-match.

I am so taken with the Zachary Hunter grey chevron bedding and co-ordinating decor. It's a beautiful and well-thought-through range that will easily take a child through the teenage years. My daughter has tough-to-match mint green walls in her bedroom, and I'm also thinking that the Charlotte Paige set with the blue and grey stripes and spots on white would work well. Pineapple trend - Australian-designed ideas for home

It's warming up and I'm feeling tropical. Maybe that's why I'm noticing all the pineapples around me - in interiors, on Pinterest, on Instagram, on fabric, in magazines - it's the Tommy Bahama-look! Or maybe it's because I'm from Queensland and have always had a soft spot for this spiky fruit. No matter - it's a trend and it's coming your way.

This pineapple-filled image by Brisbane stylist extraordinaire Kara Rosenlund, taken in her home, took my breath away and serves as great inspiration for pineapples in interiors.

So with pineapples on my mind, here are some ideas for you using Australian-designed products to incorporate the tropics into your home:

Hello Milky linen cushions and bedding

Hooray for beautiful, locally-made homewares! Australia really is the centre of exciting textile design. I discovered this Melbourne-based gem on Pascale's blog Spoonful of Colour a few weeks ago. Jessica from Hello Milky screenprints by hand beautiful homewares including linen toddler/cot bedding, cushions and softies for big and little kids. Seriously gorgeous.

Jessica prints her gorgeous homewares in her kitchen! Each piece is made individually by hand (no mass production here). The cushions and bedding are printed on luxurious 100% linen (200gsm) with non-toxic water-based inks. The linen naturally becomes softer and less crinkled over time.

These are beautiful pieces that would make great gifts for new babies, for baby showers, or special Christening or naming gifts. I have that gorgeous peach "hello" cushion on my own Christmas wishlist too. Congratulations Jessica on a beautiful range; I can't wait to see what comes next.

Melanie King and Diarmaid Collins are Design by Kico - a cute twosome designing and screenprinting up a storm to create these great cushions and a range of tea towels, tote bags and fabric.

You all know I have an obsession with cockatoos, and Design by Kico offers them in FOUR colourways! How could I possibly choose? I think the kids would like them too. Based in Sydney, they guys are working hard to bring us all an alternative to mass-produced designs on natural fabrics. Pretty fabulous I think.

Beci Orpin milestone baby cards and homewares

I saw these amazing Milestone Baby Cards illustrated by Melbourne-based artist Beci Orpin in the Lark newsletter the other day, and thought I would check in to see what else Beci has been up to. And it looks like a lot!

Beautifully-designed products with Beci's signature folk look keep coming with these fun cushions, leather coin purses, screenprinted notebooks, shopping bags, jewellery, mobiles and art pieces. The sweet folk face cushion is fast becoming a new Australian design classic for kids' rooms. And the pieces in Beci's shoppe are just the tip of the iceberg. Head over to Beci's blog to keep up with all the amazing design work that she has been creating and collaborating on - third drawer down pillows! Japanese sweets! and... a book! (and don't forget kids' label Tiny Mammoth - I'm not sure this lady sleeps)


Now back to those Milestone Baby Cards - what a great concept. These cards, illustrated by Beci, were developed in the Netherlands by Mum Gemma who stared hand-writing her own notes to include in photos of her son. Fast forward, and now those notes are beautiful cards that you can add personal details to. Put card and child in the same frame and snap! These cards would be lovely displayed in a child's growing-up journal, or sent to friends and family - or framed and displayed on the wall in a glorious Beci Orpin-designed timeline.
