The Best Brands from Kids InStyle Sydney 2016

Kids InStyle Sydney is always a must-do on my kids' industry calendar - to catch-up with favourite brands, check out trends, and scout for new Australian kids' designers. The 2016 show in Sydney showcased more of what we've loved in the last year - pastels, monochrome, fruit, unicorns, Aussie-Scandi style, graphic prints on kids' clothes, and a lasting interest in children's rooms. Bondville Does One Fine Baby Sydney 2015

Saturday mornings are adventure morning for just Miss 8 and I while my youngest goes to gymnastics and my husband works out at our local YMCA. We love to catch a train together somewhere, and last weekend, we headed to Redfern to the One Fine Baby lifestyle show at Australian Technology Park. Would you like to come on a virtual tour with us?

First stop - the Dyson marquee, where we crafted up and storm threw caution to the wind and chucked glitter all over the carpet. Multiple times. Take that, glitter!

Local Sydney DIY expert and wood-working artisan Natasha Dickens from Little Red Industries has just launched this brand new product - a handmade one metre tall Christmas tree shelf shadow box, painted in chic ombre style. You can style up the tree for Christmas with baubles and trinkets and either hang on the wall, or sit on the floor. One Fine Baby Sydney this weekend

Lilly & Lolly Sydney store tour

Bondville sponsors Lilly & Lolly moved premises this year to a gorgeous space in Rosebery, right around the corner from Koskela. I headed over to capture some shots of this beautiful store, filled with Australian-designed products and Lilly & Lolly's own quality furniture for children's interiors. Adam Liaw Asian Cookery School masterclass + Win a cooking class

We've got a well-used wok in our kitchen, a steamer I have used only once, and all the right condiments for Asian cooking; but I find myself falling back onto the staples - fried rice, stirfry, and sometimes wonton soup. Lucky, then, that my cooking inspiration has been given a big boost with a private masterclass with Adam Liaw at the gorgeous Williams-Sonoma Sydney Cooking School kitchen at Bondi Junction.

Ten of us eagerly absorbed every word, then were put to work creating Steamed Ginger Chicken, Rice Paper Rolls and Nuoc Cham from Adam's new book Asian Cookery School. So fun! Read on for photos and your chance to win a spot at a masterclass with Adam Liaw to experience for yourself.

The Blue Mountains hiking with kids

I've been to the Blue Mountains several times before having kids, eating at cosy cafes and making the obligatory pit stop at Echo Point to jostle with the thousands of tourists to take a quick snap of The Three Sisters. This time, we went with family friends (four adults and four kids 5-8 years in total) and had the kids' interests firmly in mind. The plan was child-friendly hiking and good, casual food.

Oh I am smitten with this Etsy find - the "It's Some Bunny's Birthday" party printable pack by Sydney designer Jillian from Billy and Scarlet. Perfect for Spring, it's all watercolours, pansies, and Jillian's original bunny illustrations - perfect for a girl's birthday party. My 5-year-old is mad for it too.

Harper's aqua terrace bedroom

Harper lives with her parents and two sisters in a gorgeous renovated terrace in an inner Sydney suburb. She loves make cities using Lego and collecting crystals, rocks, seed pods, and flowers. Her favourite toy is Mr Crocodile and she loves putting together outfits to wear and re-arranging the decorative elements in her room.

Harper's Mum Karlee put together this very sweet bedroom for her using a white base with aqua and pops colour, contrasting with earthy, textural accessories. Read on for more..

Kids Bedroom Decorating Advice from Petite Vintage Interiors

Belinda Kurtz from Petite Vintage Interiors has good hair. Great hair in fact. So is that the secret to being a great children's interior designer? The truth is that Belinda's personal style is part of her trade secret - her signature interior design look is replicated by clever Mamas everywhere (just check the #petitevinspiration hashtag!), and she has generated a huge following based on both her lovely nature, her style, and the beautiful rooms she designs.

I was lucky to join Belinda at the beautiful Incy Interiors store at Chatswood Chase to watch her style an undressed corner of the store, teach us how to perfectly place wall decals, give us her five top tips for decorating kids' rooms and answer lots of questions about putting together children's rooms Bel-style.

It's my final round-up, showcasing 10 of my favourite products for kids by Australian designers from this year's Kids InStyle and Life InStyle tradeshows in Sydney in 2015. Best In Show: Kids InStyle Sydney 2015 - Phoenix and the Fox

My favourite stand at Kids InStyle Sydney 2015 was Phoenix and the Fox, a brand new clothing label based in Sydney. Let me start by saying that I only had 4.5 hours to traverse the enormity that is the Kids InStyle and Life InStyle trade shows. Camera in hand, I zoom up and down the aisles, pausing only to catch-up with designers that I have already been following. But I literally stopped in my tracks as I passed Phoenix and Fox. Here's why:

While putting together my daughter's study space (remember this post?), I came across this amazing handmade furniture by Sydney-based Natasha Dickins of Little Red Industries. This gal can wield a power tool! Natasha creates original designs as well as revamping preloved furniture to create beautiful  pieces like this special table which would make a great study desk:
