My 7-year-old daughter has been begging for her very own study desk where she can work on her homework in peace (when the kitchen counter becomes too hectic), keep her stationery organised, and work on art and craft. Freedom AW14 launch - copper, moody blues and tropical trends

I was lucky enough to go to the Freedom Autumn Winter 2014 launch in Sydney yesterday and came back with a head full of ideas and three clear trends - cosy + copper, moody blues, and Havana-style tropical.

Copper
Metallics have been huge in the past year in interiors and copper is my favourite of the metallics; you've probably seen it popping up everywhere recently. I'm particularly obsessed with the Utzon pendant lamp by the Sydney Opera House designer Jorn Utzon, at Great Dane Furniture. Yum!

Two great kids' interior trends from Dulux

Dulux recently sent out 2014 colour trend info and I loved these two children's spaces that stylist Heather Nette King created. Yes, colour is big again this year, as well as the use of metallics as an accent and chalkboard paint.

I've seen so many metallic gold decal walls recently - dots, bees, and more. This is a big trend! You can paint gold dots with a stencil like Heather did, or source gold decals. Indoor teepees are also here to stay. It must be so lovely to feel cocooned and cosy inside one, and it's a great place to chuck all the toys into when visitors drop in.

You can update any chest of drawers by painting coloured panels. The chalkboard paint is a fun idea for labelling drawers. I also like that a few (but not all) of the knobs are painted with contrasting colours. Those cardboard deer heads are still popping up in all sorts of interiors too. I'm not hugely excited about the hunting reference, but they certainly add cool factor without harming a soul.

Signature Prints tablescape inspiration

Some great table-decorating inspiration from Signature Prints that I think would be chic and unexpected for Christmas. The black and white Florence Broadhurst cockatoo print napkins are stunning, and I love the gold cutlery. I might take a few cues from the relaxed styling too.

Florence Broadhurst Home by Rapee

One of my all-time favourite Australian design collections are from Signature Prints' Florence Broadhurst archives. I own lamp shades, cushions, multiple wall hangings, foot stools and at least three handbags adorned with different Florence Broadhurst prints!

It's been a while between lifestyle collections, but I was thrilled to see that Signature Prints has teamed up with Rapee to release a new series of Florence Broadhurst Home outdoor, indoor living and kitchen soft textiles in eleven archival prints.

My mind is definitely still in Hawaii this week. Do you remember my article about the pineapple homewares trend from last year? It shows no sign of slowing down, which is great, because this is one fruit that makes me happy. I love this cheery 25cm tall pineapple doorstop from Australian lifestyle label MOZI. It's super-cute and super-useful and reminds me that even in the middle of winter, the pina coladas are not far away.

Super Duper Supertrooper Studio Scandi art for kids

Finding the gorgeous Supertrooper Studio at The Finders Keepers market in Sydney on the weekend was a real a-ha moment. I was literally stopped in my tracks by the Scandinavian-inspired artwork and homewares for kids.

The illustrated city art prints first caught my attention. The Super Places collection includes Sydney, Melbourne, Manly, Fremantle (with more to come), translated into posters, cushions and tea towels. Who doesn't love a graphic homage to their favourite city - and Supertrooper Studio does it so well...

This kids' memory card game is features fun, stylised animals in classic red, blue, black and white. The quality of these cards is lovely:
