2nd Birthday Strawberry Party

Strawberry season is upon us in Australia, and with punnets at their very freshest and cheapest, strawberries make a fabulous party theme. When little Izzy turned two, her Mum Zoe put together the cutest strawberry party, beautifully photographed by Milk & Honey Photography in a park in Sydney's inner west. We are lucky to have Zoe share her tips and tricks with us on how to put together a strawberry party with lots of great savoury food ideas too.

Rainbow Party for Odette's 6th Birthday

My friends Anni and Matthew from Milk & Honey Photography are soooo clever and as well as being fabulous portrait and wedding photographers, also put together really lovely, relaxed parties for their children. Here they share with us their daughter Odette's 6th birthday party, rainbow theme, at a park in Balmain and gorgeously photographed by the team at Milk & Honey Photography. I love Anni's rainbow layer cake and the gorgeous rainbow streamers with white tissue paper pom clouds decoration!

Premium Photo Christmas Cards from Milk and Honey Photography

Here's another great pre-Christmas special, this time from my friends at Milk & Honey Photography in Rozelle, Sydney. They are offering a limited time Christmas Package which includes a family portrait session, framed 7x10" print (custom black or white frame from Corban & Blair), two matted 5x7" prints and twenty luxury Christmas cards.

Photo Christmas cards are such a great way to send your love to family and friends, and they often stay on the fridge well past the holiday period. Most times, however, the quality is a little so-so. Milk & Honey Photography are offering a quality premium postcard-style Christmas Card for your nearest and dearest, printed on gorgeous stock and double-sided for a personal message on the back.

The Very Special Christmas Package from Milk & Honey Photography is $395 and available only until 30th November 2012, so make sure you talk to Anni, Matthew or Laura and book in quick sticks! For more details, head to the current newsletter here.

My professional portrait photos - eek!

I've been wanting to have some professional photos taken for a long time - to go with my bio and with pieces that I have written for publications and other websites. So who better to ask than my friends at Milk & Honey Photography in Rozelle. I'm not used to posting images of myself, but thought you might like to see how some of them turned out, and what the experience was like.

Matthew Duchesne loves taking portrait photos and his style is very much about getting his clients out of the office and in an environment that makes them feel relaxed. We met up at Rosebud Cafe in Rozelle and had a chat about what I wanted to use the images for, and the kind of feel I was looking for. I wanted something relaxed, informal, warm and fun and definitely not corporate at all. I ordered a hot chai tea and a white chocolate and raspberry muffin and we got to work. How amazing are these shots in the cafe with the blackboard behind.

Father's Day portrait photography gift idea

Vintage high tea party for Odette's 4th Birthday

You know the birthday party is going to be special when the invitation is a gorgeous string of vintage paper bunting, tucked into a box and wrapped with ribbon. Lucky Odette was treated to a very special high tea for nine friends at Agape organic restaurant in Sydney, decorated with help from Rosebud Designs stylist Lyn Yu and photographed by her talented Dad Matthew from Milk and Honey Photography.

The kids loved the dessert 'stands' decorated with ribbon fringing and a kewpie doll - a sweet alternative to a dessert table. Odette's Mum Anni out-did herself with the teapot birthday cake and vision for the event. It was a fun morning of excited four-year-olds playing dress-ups, party games and devouring the delicious high tea. Anni shares her tips for this special event:

Alison Lawson Cakes - the peach ombre cake

When Alison (of Alison Lawson Cakes) contacted me a few months ago about collaborating on a project, I knew that one of her amazing cakes would be perfect for our special abcd Saturday Soiree, held a few weeks ago. Alison was keen to try her hand at an ombre cake, and once Lisa and I gave her our colour palette for the abcd meetup, she concocted this absolutely incredible three-tiered layered lemon cake.

Divine! And I can honestly tell you that the cake itself packed a delicious citrus-y punch and was super-moist. Truly a magnificent, and luxurious experience to enjoy. (oh, and did I mention that Alison is the sweetest, loveliest person you could ever work with?).

And how about these gorgeous images of Alison and her cake, thanks to the wonderful Anni from Milk and Honey Photography, who captured our event.

You can contact Bowral-based Alison via her Website. Thank you Alison for sharing this beautiful cake with us!

You can read more about Alison Lawson Cakes here on Bondville. Stay tuned for more amazing photos from our latest Sydney abcd meetup.
