So Little Time painted wooden jewellery

I love my So Little Time wooden laser-cut earrings so much that I literally have not taken them off since my birthday. In fact I am wearing them right now! I have these cute-as-a-button neon orange dipped wood disc earrings that were given to me by my dear friend Anni...

Partners Kirsty and Josh hand-craft their earrings, brooches, and necklaces from locally-sourced or recycled wood, shaping them and painting them in their Melbourne studio. I particularly love the geo ball and faceted necklaces - like wooden crystals!

I can hardly resist this sweet ice cream brooch - what a gorgeous gift or party favour for a little one...

Thank you so much Anni for such a thoughtful gift - you know me so well! x

Emily Green accessories and artwork

When Nicola rocked a fabulous polymer clay necklace at our abcd soiree, I went into investigation mode to hunt down the designer behind the baubles. Behold the goodness of Melbourne-based Emily Green!

Emily hand-makes these great necklaces and earrings, dreamy watercolour artworks and cool brooches. Emily's work is so spot-on with current fashion and design trends - her work is much-loved on Pinterest. Don't those necklaces look practically edible. More Mother's Day fodder right here! You can send this post directly to Mr Bondville.

You can find Emily Green's work in her online store, as well as stockists (check the website) across Australia (and L.A.) and online.

Made By White Australian animal brooches

Regular Bondville readers will know that I have an obsession with Australian-made. And if it's designed in Australia, made in Australia and features Australian wildlife, I'm just as happy as a pig in mud. I might even have to do a round-up of some of my favourite modern Australiana. In the meantime, get your Easter Bilby on, and adorn your lapel/scarf/tote with a cute Australian animal brooch by those clever girls at Made By White.

Etched in wood using a laser and then hand-painted, the range of Aussie animal brooches includes the Bilby, a camp Fairy Penguin, Mum and baby Wombats, an apple-hugging Koala and a sugar glider hitching a lift on a paper airplane. They are all fantastic, but I'm thinking that the Bilby would be a perfect Easter gift for a little someone.

You can find the Made By White brooches in the online store.

Renee Treml's Australiana necklaces, brooches and ornaments

Some people are just plain talented. Renee Treml is one of those people. She is a friend, mother, wife, breast cancer survivor (yes, really), sweet, sweet person, and an incredibly talented artist. And on top of that, Renee has just launched a fabulous collection of necklaces, brooches and ornaments featuring her lovely Scratchboard illustrations of cute-as-pie birds and animals.

If you've never heard of the scratchboard technique before, head over to Renee's website where you will find a description of this intricate process of scratching clay away from a surface using a fine craft knife. I can only fathom the amount of work that goes into each illustration, with no room for error (or erasers!). Stunning results, I'm sure you'll agree.

I love Renee's new line of jewellery and ornaments featuring native Australian fauna and flora, as well as birds a little farther from home. And what glorious gifts these would make for friends and family overseas, and for souvenirs. And while you're there, why not pick up a greeting card or art print from this amazing artist.

You can find Renee's artwork and accessories in the Renee's Artwork Etsy store, as well as at stockists around Australia and online. Read more about Renee's artwork here on Bondville.

PS - look out for Renee's illustrated book coming soon!

Scoops Design accessories and childrenswear

I got the cutest mirror seal brooch in my ABCD meetup goodie bag last month. It is so much-loved at Bondville headquarters that I have to seriously negotiate with my 4-year-old about who gets to wear it. The brooch is part of a great range of jewellery, accessories and childrenswear by talented Sydney designer Sophie Cooper (Scoops) under the Scoops Design label.

Spun Mud ceramics

The ceramics of Spun Mud artist Bec Lindemann caught my eye at the Eumundi Markets this morning. Dinnerware, vases and jewellery sat side-by-side embellished with Bec's own retro flower, tattoo and paisley designs.

It turns out that Bec and I have lots of shared friends in the QLD ceramics world. We chatted about the local handmade scene while I tried on adorable coral pink patterned rings.

Bec is based at Mothar Moutain on the Sunshine Coast where she throws each pot on the wheel (powered by solar energy) and decorates with original screenprinted transfers. Each piece is hand painted to finish and stamp bowls are pressed with hand-carved clay stamps. Pots are bisque fired and then gloss fired with a clear glaze to around 1240 degrees in Bec's gas kiln.

I'll be back to pick up some of Bec's lovely rings and I'm really tempted by the milk and sugar set. Love the Eumundi Markets - yet another great find.

You can find Spun Mud in the Etsy store and at the Eumundi Markets, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Keep up-to-date on Bec's designs through the Spun Mud Facebook page.

Twice Designs handmade brooches and greeting cards

I met Sarah Bartnett from Twice Designs at an ABCD Meetup in Sydney this year and loved the typewriter greeting card that she contributed to the goodie bag. And then last week, one of Sarah's cards was featured in a Bondville kids bedroom tour. I had to find out more...

I'm dying for the laser-etched eye chart wooden brooch. So fun and a great conversation-starter. Know any budding photographers that would love the camera brooch? I think I've now got birthday presents sorted for a bunch of my girlfriends.

You can find Twice Designs in the Etsy and MadeIt (Australia) stores. If you head over the online stores now, there are sales on, including brooches from $2 and buy-four-cards-and-get-one-free. For more information on the latest designs, head over to the Twice Designs blog.

Made By White - new jewellery collaborations

Clever clog sisters Lyndsay and Kelly White from local jewellery label Made By White have been collaborating with other clever clogs to create these carnival-cute brooches and jewellery.

Along with parterships including Sydney-based Mechelle B and Melbournian Christine (Jam Fancy), the girls have just announced new collaborations with UK illustrator Gemma Correll and French designer Julie Camille (One Little Fox). Take your pick - cheeky cats, owls, pug dogs, bears, raccoons, squirrels or foxes. What's not to love?

All collaborated works are limited edition pieces using wood, perspex and laminate. Better get one quick smart!

You can find Made By White jewellery in the online store and stockists across Australia.

REread upcycled brooches

Did you notice the cool brooch that Sun on Masterchef was wearing this week? It was handmade by our very own Haylee Lees of REread in Brisbane.

Hayley salvages children's books that are being thrown out, or from markets to create her one-of-a-kind animal brooches, finished with resin. Anyone who reads the REread blog or follows Hayley on Twitter will know that she has a wicked sense of humour, and this is evident in many of her quirky brooches. Perfect to pin on coats, scarves and beanies with this chilly weather!

You can find REread brooches in the Etsy store as well as various markets (keep an eye on the REread blog for details).

REread brooches will also be available this Saturday at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market in Brisbane (an excellent market!), 9th July, 2011, 9am-2pm at St Augustine Church Hall and grounds, Racecourse Rd, Hamilton, NSW. In fact, this was the very market that I bought a REread cat brooch at for my sister in Vancouver a few years ago (hope you like it J!)

After living for a combined six years in Japan, Melanie Gray Augustin returned to Australia and started her Kimono Reincarnate jewellery label to share her love of Japanese art, kimono fabric and 'kawaii' culture with the rest of the world.

Using combinations of vintage kimono fabrics, Japanese cottons, silver, crystal clear resin, bamboo and brightly coloured, and laser cut acrylics, Mel creates amazing brooches and necklaces to add a little Nihon-chic to your wardrobe. Many Kimono Reincarnate pieces are limited edition or one-off, so if you see something you like, best grab it quick smart.

I met Mel at a Brown Owls get-together in Brisbane a few years ago (remember me, Mel?) and have been keeping an eye on her work, but the recent launch of her paper crane brooch begged to be showcased. The crane brooches are laser-cut from sustainable bamboo, hand-sanded, and painted with delicate plum flowers to bring a little peace, love, health and longevity to the wearer. I truly love all of Mel's work, and I know my big girl would love those kawaii pendant necklaces too.

You can find Kimono Reincarnate in the online store, the Etsy store and at stockists around Australia. You can read more about Mel and all things Japanese and crafty and good over at her blog.
