Sneak peek: Tickle The Imagination magazine Issue 22: metamorphose

The new year is only 10 days away! As 2016 approaches, many of us are thinking of resolutions. 'Metamorphose' is an apt theme for the brand new Issue 22 of Tickle The Imagination magazine - full of ideas to inspire change and transformation. There are also lots of fun DIY craft ideas for summer holiday fun.

I love the beautiful cover with succulents potted in glass jars, encouraging us to 'turn your recycling into something lovely'; this is just one of the lovely and easy-to-achieve DIY and craft tutorials and other goodies that you'll find in Issue 22. Issue One of Scout online magazine by Lisa Tilse

Joining the elite group of magazines with great content that are also gorgeous to look through (hello Kinfolk, Fete and Hello May!) is the fresh new online mag Scout by my dear friend Lisa Tilse (of the red thread). Lisa is an endless inspiration to me - her style and creative vision are amazing and her new magazine is a natural extension of this.

Sydney-based Lisa is a talented crafter, so you will naturally find beautiful craft projects in Scout, from simple but chic ideas through to more challenging craftwork.

Browse through this magazine and you will also be right on top of the latest lifestyle trends. Each section is themed with a current colour palette that Lisa loves.

Issue One of Scout contains 146 pages, including nine craft tutorials, patterns, printables, gift wish lists, curated recipes from five food bloggers and a fabulous giveaway. I cannot wait to get stuck into the watercolour gem printables craft project in the magazine - I'm planning to make a sweet mobile.

Sweet Paul kids e-mag knocks my socks off

Far out. How GOOD is Sweet Paul and his amazing online and print magazines. The latest kids issue is chock-full of great party and entertaining ideas, as well as fun DIY activities to do with kids and lots of design inspiration. With just a quick flick through, I spotted our very own Craft Schmaft hot air balloons (seen here on Bondville too!), and now-world-renowned Tutu du Monde in a fashion editorial. Country Style magazine launches homewares

Here's a new product line that I'm both excited about and feel a personal connection with. The lovely Country Style magazine is launching a line of branded homewares - the first being bed linen with KS Textiles. The pieces have been designed with Country Style editor Victoria Carey's close involvement and represent the stylish lifestyle and timeless design sensibilities of the magazine brand.

I'm excited to see more Australian-designed textiles reaching the mass market, and really interested to see an Australian magazine branch into licensing their brand to homewares. When we lived in New York City, I contracted to Hearst Magazines to help manage the licensing of their Country Living magazine (and Cosmo, Cosmo Girl and Seventeen magazine) in exactly the same way. I even got to work with Amy Butler!

I think the Country Style team are doing a great job creating a collection of bed linen that beautifully reflects the brand's values. I'm looking forward to seeing more homewares and am imagining an Anthropology-like range of ceramic knobs, modern-rustic dinnerware, wire kitchen products, wicker baskets and chic linens. What would you like to see? We'll have to wait and see what goodies are in store for us.

Fete online magazine

There has been a welcome proliferation of online magazines launching this year, many from Australian editors (see my story on My Little Jedi last week). The quality is astonishing, and so exciting to see another venue for sharing beautiful design. On top of the more established design-oriented blogs and Pinterest, these magazines are providing endless inspiration.

Of the many fabulous online magazines, one that really stands out is the newly launched bi-monthly Fete magazine, produced in Australia by former Wedding Style Guide magazine team members Annabelle Kerslake and Jane Cameron. It's glorious - full of ideas for entertaining, gorgeous editorial by Australian photographers and stylists and chic page design.

The magazine is not too long, which I love, and includes a range of event inspiration from grown-up shindigs to children's parties. In addition to other Aussie favourites est (home decor and lifestyle), Papier Mache (kids), LMNOP (kids), Ivy & Piper (interiors), Paper Runway (paper goods), and a slew of others, I think that Fete is destined for BIG things!

My Little Jedi Magazine: Festive Christmas Fashion for Little Ones

I was honoured to be a contributing editor in the lastest My Little Jedi magazine where I pulled together some great Christmas outfit ideas (from Australian designers) for the little ones. It's full of gorgeous party ideas for the holiday season. Look at that amazing Australian Beach Christmas-inspired dessert table cover shot by MLJ owner (and ABCD Meetup regular) Vesna! It's a sparkly concoction of gorgeousness. (A big hint - ombre is HUGE at the moment). Click on over to My Little Jedi magazine to read the fashion story (pages 164-167).

Paper Runway magazine

Have you discovered the delightful Paper Runway magazine yet? Produced right here in Australia, this lovely quarterly publication dedicated to all things paper - paper goods, paper craft and paper love. Available in print and online (read here), the magazine is chock-full of gorgeousness. What about this tagline - where passion meets paper. Can you stand it?

The second issue has just been released and is dedicated to weddings. Titled "Ever After", this special edition is online-only and happens to feature a little article by moi! Click through to pages 98-99 to read all about "10 Must-Haves For The Perfect Wedding Day". I was a little cheeky - you know these kind of articles can be dull. Let me know if you get a chance to check it out.

Dwell Magazine and Method Upcycling Competition

Here's a fun project if you're bored this weekend. San Francisco's Dwell Magazine is running a competition for their advertiser method (of cleaning-products-that-look-cute-too fame).

Open to entrants internationally, the challenge is to reuse, recycle, upcycle empty method packaging/bottles for another purpose. One winner will receive a year's supply of method products ($300 value) as well as recognition on dwell.com. Enter by submitting a drawing, photography or rendering of your idea.

I'm all about being creative and reducing waste. Looks like fun.

Featured in Peppermint Magazine

Have you seen the fabulous eco-fashion and lifestyle Peppermint Magazine yet? It's green, gorgeous and good reading. And I was very lucky to be featured in Issue 4, right there on the last page. How cool!

As Brisbane-based publisher Kelley says, Peppermint is "intelligent, style-conscious, cutting-edge, fun and environmentally-aware". Make sure you pick up a copy and support good Australian publishing and eco-friendly fashion and lifestyle choices.

Stylish Kids: Peekaboo Magazine

Lucky you if you live in Brisbane and you love all things stylish for kids. Go-get-'em magazine publisher Bianca Shugg has just launched the gorgeous new Peekaboo Magazine featuring beautiful glossy pages full of divine photography and cool products for kids.

Distributed only in Brisbane (currently) via home delivery, baby stores and subscription, the magazine is totally drool-worthy, with a focus on the products, websites, designers and services dedicated to children.

I managed to score a copy of the free launch issue (November 09) at the Mathilda's Market on the weekend and was truly bowled over by the professionalism and beauty of Peekaboo. Lots of great inspiration in there, including a gorgeous shot of the Momie et Enfant supermodel on the cover.

If you're not based in Brisbane, you can still check out some Peekaboo loveliness on the website. Congratulations Bianca and team!

Cool Websites: Inside Out blog

Australia produces some of the best magazines in the world, and one of my favourite Aussie mags is Inside Out. This shelter mag covers all the bases - gorgeous interiors, homewares trends, and cool products and the good folks at Inside Out just wrote to let me know that they have launched their new blog. You'll find lots of behind-the-scenes home decorating info from people in the know. And a huge thank you too for choosing me as one of their 'favourite bloggers'!

The team also sent me a very cool hemp handbag organiser (a neat little drawstring bag to put all your essentials in and then pop inside your handbag - no more lost phone/keys/lipsitck!). The hip bag graphic is designed by Grace Lee (who is definitely an artist to watch - see the Inside Out blog for more details), in collaboration with Bee & Apple (who I profiled a few weeks ago here). The bag is a gift-with-purchase with the May/June 2009 Inside Out magazine on sale from 1st April. Enjoy!

Must-Read Peppermint Magazine

There are lots of fashion magazines, quite a few lifestyle magazines, and even a couple of green-living magazines - all of which I love. But now there is a magazine to reallly tug at my heartstrings. Peppermint Magazine is a green-living fashion and lifestyle magazine all rolled into one.

Produced in Brisbane, Australia, Peppermint profiles the best of conscious fashion from Australia, NZ and the rest of the world. Each page is dedicated to all things cool, hip and eco-friendly including clothing, jewellery, footwear, art, culture and design. Look for articles on sustainability, recycling, fair trade, locally-made, organic and environmentally-responsible threads.

Issue #1 is fantastic and I already have the gorgeous art by Marc Conaco and Nina O'Brien torn out and framed in my room!

The mag is printed on 100% recycled paper (90%+ post-consumer waste) with vegetable/soy inks. You can find Peppermint Magazine at online and retail stockists in Australia and NZ.
