Baby Essentials: Alex from Oobi
I started thinking about this series a year ago when my bub was a newborn - there are so many 'things' out there that you "simply must have" for a new baby. There is so much research to do - it can get out of control. So overwhelming! So I thought I would reach out to some of my friends who are experts in the kids industry for their favourite baby essentials to share with you all.
First up, Alex from one of Australia's favourite kids fashion labels - Oobi.Favourite nappy rash cream: Almond Oil! Top tip that my friends who are mums swear by. Good for the ‘information vault’.
Favourite nappy bag: MakeBabyStuff.com Free Diaper Bag Pattern. I know it’s not something a new mum is going to get really excited about, crafting when she’s dealing with a zillion other things. But maybe there’s a nice nanna out there who might make one. I’d rethink that fabric and tart it up of course!

Favourite mobile: The best mobiles are those awesome retro Flensted animals. The whales are super cute and not too expensive.
Favourite bath products: Eco Babe has great bath and body products.
Favourite baby bedding: The Oobi baby blankets. I think they’re really beautiful and practical.
Favourite bibs: Our Oobi bibs! Beautiful patchwork fabrication, ribbon details, snap closure and practical towelling on the back. Thanks so much, Alex, for your words of wisdom. You can read more about Oobi here on Bondville. Don't forget to check back here over the next few weeks for more essential items for newborns from people in the know.

Drool-worthy Design: My Sweet Prints

Well I'm going let you in on a big secret. I've been keeping this to myself for a while now, but it's time to share. This is my favourite no-fail, go-to destination for newborn gifts.... My Sweet Prints.
My Sweet Prints is a range of clever art prints designed by Sydney graphic designer and illustrator Janette Baker. The collection includes ready-made prints such as the bus roll spoof Bedtime Bus Roll, Family Rules, the meaning of LOVE and other sweet sentiments for the home.
If you'd like something a little more personal, you can contract Janette's graphic design skills to customise both text and colours for lovely modern birth prints. Try as I may to find a different newborn gift for each new baby born to friends, I keep going back to the My Sweet Prints range. (Anne, pressie for baby Max is on its way!).
Aside from art prints, Janette also produces personalised height charts and world maps on canvas that are amazing gifts for a new parent. And if you love the Bedtime Bus Scroll, you might like the My Sweet Prints personalised Bus Scroll canvases for your home.
Oh - and Janette is also one of the loveliest people you could wish to deal with. That's why I keep going back for more.
You can buy My Sweet Prints wall art from the online store. Check out Janette's blog for behind-the-scenes info and new designs.

Hip Products: O.B Designs DingaRings

Our 9-month-old still has no teeth so teething rings are top of mind here at Bondville. Check out these super-cute rattle + teething ring + soft toy DingaRings that I found at the Sunshine Coast recently.Designed in Byron Bay by Kate Nicolson and Leesa Hallahan from O.B. Designs, these rings include a cast of characters full of personality, including Aussie-themed Tony Tree Frog, Gi Gi Galah, Craig Crocodile and Keith Koala. The range includes both muted tones and bright colours, soft bodies and wooden rings to soothe those sore gums. These teething rings would make excellent newborn gifts or a present for a baby shower, particularly for friends and family overseas.
O.B. Designs is an environmentally-conscious business using recyclable point of sale and office materials. You can find DingaRings in the online store as well as at stockists across Australia, the UK, UAE, Belgium and the Netherlands.
