Make: Felt patches for holey leggings
Winter has been very cruel to the leggings in our house. There is nary a pair without a holey knee or two. But rather than throw them away, I spent a few hours making felt patches to cover the holes and voila - even cooler tights!
To make these knee patches, I drew a heart shape onto paper and cut out, to make a pattern. I then pinned the pattern to scraps of felt and cut out heart shapes. Then I positioned and pinned the hearts over the knee holes, and hand-sewed with a simple running stitch.
Easy and so effective! You could also cut simple shapes like circles, stars triangles and squares. Raid the cookie cutter drawer to make some patterns. A gem-shape would look great, especially with some contrasting stitching to mark the facets! Let me know if you make felt knee patches for your kids' leggings or pants - I'd love to see pics.
Note - I wash with cold water and I don't use the dryer; both of which may affect the felt and cause shrinkage.

Tutu du Monde 2013 exclusive sneak peek with party inspiration
One of my favourite Australian labels for girls is the ever-beautiful Tutu du Monde. There isn't a piece I don't love from any of Andrea's collections and this exclusive sneak peek of two tutus from the 2013 collection is no exception.
These are the Dew Drop Tutu in Frangipani with Enchanted Butterfly Hairclip and the Silver In the Spotlight Dress in Biscotti with Plie Caplet in Offwhite. The girls are gorgeously photographed by the amazing Alexandrena Parker (whose work photographing children I am more than obsessed with).
I was imagining two sweet party girls in these Tutu du Monde concoctions and was inspired to pair them with some fun party decorations. Enjoy!
1. Purple stripe paper drinking straws from Sweet Style
2. Whiteware skirted pedestal cake stand from Sweet Style
3. Grosgrain lavender/white stitch ribbon from Sweet Style
4. Grosgrain taupe/white stitch ribbon from Sweet Style
5. Ivory and white striped lollipop from Pink Frosting
6. Purple spots cupcake baking cups from Pink Frosting
7. Purple stripes cupcake baking cups from Pink Frosting

9. Peach tissue paper ball from Lark
10. Lavender tissue paper ball from Sweet Style

13. Purple glittered bird decoration with clip from Pink Frosting

Brand New Tutu du Monde August 2011 - world exclusive
GUESS WHAT!!! The ever-so-clever Andrea Rembeck from Tutu du Monde has shared with us her new collection of heavenly party frocks and tutus for little girls. First look here!

This new collection from Tutu du Monde continues the theme of beautiful vintage-style pieces to make girls feel like princesses. As well as the ever-gorgeous tutus with stretch jersey singlet tops, there are sweet capelets, cloches, bows and bazillions of sequins.
These dresses and outfits even look great as time goes by. Yes they are special occasion dresses - flower girls, parties, birthdays - but wear well for everyday too. Our purple tutu has been dragged through the proverbial mud for over a year and still looks fantastic - a little boho chic now. (throw away those itchy polyester Sleeping Beauty things!)
You can find Tutu du Monde in the online store as well as stockists in Australia, the US, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Read more about Tutu du Monde here on Bondville. And head over to Bondville Kids for more great Australian-designed clothes for kids.

William and Kate's Flower Girls - the Australian designs they could have worn
Image: (c) PA Wire

Image: Hugo Burnand/Clarence House
Oh the royal wedding. I adored everything about it. Catherine Middleton blew me away with her grace, composure and that dress!
Now, Will and Kate's flower girls were cute, no denying. They wore custom white satin gazar dresses with pale gold sashes, designed by Nicki MacFarlane. I even heard that their names were embroidered in the hems (what a lovely idea!).
But I wonder if the look may have been more modern if they had gone with an Australian-designed flower girl dress? Here are my picks:

Tea Princess Special Occasion Collection - a sweeter, softer option than stiff satin.
Sophie's Lane - Liberty prints (of course) in a soft grey and ivory.
Tutu Du Monde - adorable on the big girls and the little girls, and definitely wearable again.
Let me know if you have another favourite Australian-designed flower girl dress that I can add to this list ...

Tutu du Monde 2011 Collection
It's no secret that I am a *huge* fan of Andrea Rembeck's divine label for little girls, Tutu Du Monde. My big girl lives in her Tutu Du Monde dresses and they also come out for every dress-up event.
I stopped by to say Hi to Andrea at Kids In Style last month and was able to see her gorgeous new collection up-close. Stunning! These are dresses just begging to be worn by flowergirls, birthday girls and any ballerina-in-the-making. Here are the latest photos from the new Tutu Du Monde lookbook for your viewing pleasure.
You can find Tutu Du Monde in the online store as well as at boutiques across Australia, the US, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Stylish Kids: Tutu Du Monde

And a birthday girl has to have a party dress, right? when I spotted the glorious purple tutu (top) at Mathilda's Markets last month, I just had to squirrel it away. Shhhh.... don't tell!
Andrea Rembeck from Tutu Du Monde creates magical dresses and tutu's for dress-up and everyday. The dresses are works of art - hand dyed in pastel colours and detailed with sequins, beads, feathers and lots of lovely tulle. It's truly hard to pick a favourite (I dare you).
Andrea Rembeck is an established fashion designer and has designed for labels such as Collette Dinnigan and Fleur Wood and her own labels Andrea Rembeck and diffusion line She’s Beck. When her daughter asked for a tutu, Andrea created her own vintage-feel versions with a "lighter footprint" that are practical for play but will still transport your lovelies to enchanted forests. And luckily they are "made to last, and in fact, get better with wear. Slight fading and fraying edges adds to their charm over time". With the amount of wear and tear at our house, this is good news.
So here's to fairies and princesses and ballerinas and pink and purple and frothy dancing dresses and 3 year old parties. Such a special time.
You can find Tutu Du Monde in the online store as well as at stockists in Australia and the US.
