Signature Prints tablescape inspiration

Some great table-decorating inspiration from Signature Prints that I think would be chic and unexpected for Christmas. The black and white Florence Broadhurst cockatoo print napkins are stunning, and I love the gold cutlery. I might take a few cues from the relaxed styling too.

I've fallen hard for this fantastic Big Spot table cloth (and matching napkins and tea towels) from Aura by Tracie Ellis. The spot design is available in emerald, bright yellow and marine printed on natural cotton and flax - gorgeous and bright for the summer party season. Yellow for me please! Hello Milky linen cushions and bedding

Hooray for beautiful, locally-made homewares! Australia really is the centre of exciting textile design. I discovered this Melbourne-based gem on Pascale's blog Spoonful of Colour a few weeks ago. Jessica from Hello Milky screenprints by hand beautiful homewares including linen toddler/cot bedding, cushions and softies for big and little kids. Seriously gorgeous.

Jessica prints her gorgeous homewares in her kitchen! Each piece is made individually by hand (no mass production here). The cushions and bedding are printed on luxurious 100% linen (200gsm) with non-toxic water-based inks. The linen naturally becomes softer and less crinkled over time.

These are beautiful pieces that would make great gifts for new babies, for baby showers, or special Christening or naming gifts. I have that gorgeous peach "hello" cushion on my own Christmas wishlist too. Congratulations Jessica on a beautiful range; I can't wait to see what comes next.

Hip Products: Habitat Baby nursery bedding

I was thrilled to hear from Carla at Habitat Baby recently and to be introduced to her lovely range of nursery bedding, designed and produced in Australia using gorgeous 100% cotton fabrics from around the world. I'm used to seeing nursery ranges from the US that include cot "skirts" and this is the first time I have seen this style here in Australia... and I love it!

The Habitat Baby range - which includes sheets, quilts, pillows and cot skirts - is sweet and simply lovely. I especially love the quilts which look gorgeous paired with both modern and vintage furniture and accessories. And apart from being stylish, the cot skirts are perfect for helping to control dust, and for hiding under-cot storage.

Hip Products: Old Yarns antique linen

Sometimes you spot a product that you just want to touch. That's exactly how my Mum and I felt when we found Old Yarns at the Brisbane Stitches and Craft show this year. Old Yarns - full name [oldyarns. reclaimed linens.] - sells fine linens and accessories made by hand in their small local atelier from vintage textiles, papers and found objects gathered from all over the world.

The range changes from time-to-time, but you can find linen blankets, pillowcases, cushion covers, tablecloths, purses and pockets, and vintage paper garlands and mobiles when in stock. Pieces are created from reclaimed textiles like an irish damask linen hand cloth, antique french linen tea towel and pure linen mangle cloth and repurposed for modern use, retaining that gorgeous old-world look. Eco-friendly, stylish, and charming to boot.

Hip Products: Edward & Lily craft

Rebecca Cason from Edward & Lily is super-lovely and a great member of the Brisbane craft community (and Brown Owl prefect extraordinaire). She also creates lovely accessories for her Etsy tore. I'm grateful to Katy (who commented on Bondville last week) for the reminder on her website to check out Rebecca's new creations.

I'm totally taken with these two pouches. Rebecca has embroidered these kickin' boots and beanie onto linen, then made adorable pouches by hand. Perfect for business cards, credit carts, coins, lipstick, you name it.

Rebecca also creates hanging scented birds and sweet softies. Keep an eye on the Edward & Lily Etsy store for new creations.

Drool-worthy Design: Third Drawer Down

Melbourne-based Third Drawer Down creates high quality art-based products in limited quantities, reproducing the designs of Australian and international artists.

The company are best known for their selection of beautifully packaged linen tea towels that can be used for their original purpose, or stretched over canvas for affordable wall art (or even used for crafting and sewing). The range also includes handkerchiefs, bubkins (baby bibs), aprons, pillow cases and ceramics printed with contemporary art.

Australian artists are well represented including fun, contemporary illustrations by Emma Magenta, Kat Macleod, Sarah Parkes, Arlene Textaqueen and Andrew Nicholls, among others.

You can find Third Drawer Down products for sale on the Third Drawer Down online store and at stockists in the US, Japan, UK, New Zealand and Australia. While you are at the site, check out the fun decal art. Just like the rub-on transfers of old, but with cool graphics!

Breath-taking Studio Kurashi

The highlight of the GoMA design markets, for me, was to see in person the beautiful styling, design and touch of Brisbane-based Japanese artist Momo under the Studio Kurashi label.

I loved the play of delicate objects made from earthy, textured fabric. The Kurashi pieces on display included lots of linen in natural tones (soft boots for indoors, children's pants with sweet swallow prints, scented pin cushions, slender pot holders), precious clothes peg dolls, and lovely children's clothes.

Stylish Kids: Anna and Sally

More gorgeous children's fashion for you this week. Anna and Sally are two friends - one who lives in Jervis Bay on the NSW south coast (lucky thing!) and the other who lives in London. Together they design stylish children's clothes, newborn organics, linens and accessories inspired by the Australian landscape and relaxed coastal living. Their collection includes four fantastic colourways including Gelato, Café, Spice and Nature chic with funky graphic prints.

It's truly hard for me to pick a favourite amongst their pieces; they all remind me of bright, sunny days by the beach (and don't we all need a bit of that in our day-to-day lives). You can find the Anna and Sally range in their Australian and UK online stores, in boutiques across Australia.
